Matt James / Rough Control
A DJ and producer of more than 20 years Matt is always fine tuning his unique style and sound. With a love of all types of music spanning right through to today’s latest electronica.
Matt started DJing and producing as a teen in his hometown Portsmouth. Here he met with like-minded DJs and producers and discover the sound of Detroit, Chicago and the UK Tech House. This was accompanied by the beginnings of an ever-growing passion for all kinds of rhythmical of music, influenced by Latin, African, Afro-Caribbean cultures along side western disco, funk and jazz.
After completing a degree studying the progression of 20th Century Electronic Music, Matt moved to London, where he is based today. Here he has always maintained an active involvement with different artist, DJs and club nights, indulging in the diversity of this great city.
Currently focusing on production Matt has recently started his own label – AIRecs (Animal Instincts Recordings) and is recording under the guise Rough Control and Fearless Gigantic. He can also be found DJing around the UK and Europe.
